Austin is the music capital of the world. Right outside of our hotel there was a makeshift stage set up for local bands to perform. We listened to a band or two then headed out to…..
where all the action is with a different venue on every corner for bands to showcase their talent.

Before we got a taste of the variety of styles in music, we had to grab some Tex-Mex to put in our empty bellies. We ate at the Iron Cactus and would have loved to show you a picture of the food we had, but it was too delicious and was quickly devoured. We had lobster tacos and chicken flautas for appetizer. Then we split spinach, artichoke, and mushrooms enchiladas. All we have to say is HOLY GUACAMOLE! Soooo yummy:)
The aftermath...
The aftermath...
As we walked off our amazing meal (and margaritas) we were summoned into the bar ChupaCabra by these gentlemen who were kind enough to buy us a round for us stopping in.
Thanks for the free drinks boys, keep those elbows up!!! We made our way back out onto 6th street and were immediately intrigued by the sign “Museum of the Weird” where we saw the following….
yes that man is hammering a nail into his head and swallowing a hanger. He also walked/jumped on broken glass. Craziness!!!
After that, we needed a drink for sure. We went across the street to the dueling Piano Bar and had a PBR in a bottle, classy we know:)
We gave our $2 to hear Shoop, sang and danced with/for the crowd, got a free round on Roy & Deb (see below) and headed out.
Again, we were unable to blog last night due to all that Austin had to offer. We reenergized this morning with some breakfast burritos at Walton’s Fancy & Staple, owned by America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock. We drank the most amazing chai latte and hot chocolate and were back on the road.
We almost had to write a lovely letter to Sandy herself thanking her for the free meal, before we realized we had walked out on the check. Three blocks away we realized that we never paid for our breakfast and had to walk back and apologize to the cashier who had no clue anyway and we totally could have gotten away with it. But Karma’s a bitch and we don’t need any!
Currently we are back on I-10 W, hating our lives because all we have and can look at for the next 10 hours is this…..
See you in 620 miles!!
Ya’ll come back now ya’ hear :)

A Special Thanks goes out to Jorge from the Intercontinental in Austin who was kind enough to fill two bags of ice for us to put in our cooler.
Let us also take this time for a moment of silence for all of the bugs that have & are currently still using our windshield as a final resting place. Please stop committing bug suicide, we are getting really annoyed with the remains blocking our view from the road.
Hahaha!!! Love it:) And to think that I thought the only thing in Texas were steers and queers;) Keep on truckin' and stay safe! Luv ya..........Niecey xo
